Two years later, the Panthers reached the Finals, but were swept by the Colorado Avalanche in four games. As of 2006, the Panthers best regular season was in '99-'00, when the team recorded 43 wins and took 2 nd in the Southeast.
The Panthers haven't had the best of luck in a very tough Southeast Division the past couple of seasons. Even when they finished with a decent record of 37-34 in 2006, the Panthers wound up fourth, and failed to make the playoffs. Things might be looking better in the coming years, as the Southeast begins to come back down to earth, and the Panthers rise in the standings.
